Notes from Cheryl (3/26/2006)

Well....it's the finals hours of SPRING BREAK! :( Overall, I would describe my break as a rollercoaster. It had it's ups and downs and crazy twists, but now it's time to get off the ride and hit the books again.

Books...yep...that's a scary word. I have to buy my books tomorrow, which means a hole in my checking account. I checked the bookstore's website to see how much I might be spending. If I have to buy all NEW books, I'll be spending close to $300.00. Yikes! Hopefully I can get some USED books.

Hello all, it’s been awhile so I figured it’s about time to leave a little entry here.

Things are going really well, and finals are out of the way and I feel like a 1,000 pound weight has been lifted from my shoulders. My two finals were last Wednesday and they went alright. I had trouble finding motivation to start studying which ultimately led to one really late night and a stressful morning.

Looking back, I wish I would have been as ambitious and dedicated as I had planned in my last blog - but - the little studying I did proved to be enough. I made the Dean’s List again but the days following the finals were excruciatingly tense because of my uncertainty. By not being adequately prepared for finals I was left hanging. Being the internet junkie that I am, I think I checked my grades every 30 minutes for three days. Fortunately, everything worked out and I’m still above that all-important 3.5 GPA.

As always, now that I’ve got the business aspect of blogging out of the way I can move to the most important and enjoyable aspect of being a college student...break!

Being my first Spring Break I had no idea what to expect and to be truthful I still don’t but I can say that it’s been amazing. The mixture of the majority of my friends being home and no reason to wake up before noon has made this a great week! I can’t remember ever laughing as much as I have this week! There is also an Ohio State Lima bowling outing in the works which I am really excited about. Some friends and I are collaborating to pull a bunch of people together to have a good time with some current classmates. Being a commuter campus there isn’t as much of an opportunity to get to know those around you but that barrier can easily be broken down by a little initiative. Gas prices might be expensive and irritating when driving to class but I’d pay $3.00 a gallon to go have fun with people from campus any day!

Anyways, this is getting lengthy so I must be going. I am going to attempt to stop in once or twice before I leave for Italy so check back! I might even stop in while I’m overseas if I get a chance!

Until next time!Cody

Well..it's SPRING BREAK!!!! And no...I'm not in Florida or California or any place warm. None of my other friends are taking any spring break trips either. Everyone is returning home and working because we are all a bunch of poor college students. Haha.

This past weekend was craziness! Friday was St. Patrick's Day!! I wore green beads, a green sweater, a green belt, and I painted my nails green. When I got to the party, John was sitting on the kitchen counter while his buddies were cutting napkins with their pocket knives and putting it on his bleeding knee and then wrapping it with duct tape. (yep...definitely a hillbilly thing to do!) Apparently John was running around the truck and his knee hit the license plate. I told him that he needed to go to the emergency room. 5 hours later, it's still bleeding. That's when John decided that maybe he should go to the ER. At about 2Am, John got 6 stitches.

Saturday night, I was out at the SHACK in Botkins. Brandon came with a truck load of wood and the guys decided to burn all of it in one night. Our campfire turned into a bonfire and you could see the orange glow all the way from the interstate! We were afraid that someone would call 911 and the Botkins Fire Department would show up. Haha.

Sunday was a very depressing day. I watched the Buckeyes lose against Georgetown. I just can't believe that no one from the Big Ten made the Sweet 16! That really screwed up my bracket. I had the Buckeyes winning the tournament over Iowa. Gosh Darn!

Notes from Cheryl (3/12/2006)

My life continues to be full of craziness! I got about 4 hours of sleep Friday night, grabbed a cappuccino, and dashed out the door before 7AM to head up to Bellefontaine, Ohio to judge parliamentary procedure at the FCCLA Regional Rally. At the 8AM judges meeting, I sat next to a very interesting man. During my conversation with the man, he showed me a picture and asked me if I knew who it was. I told him that it was the Buckeyeman. He then asked me if I’ve ever met the guy and I told him no. He then extended his hand I said “Hi. I’m Larry Lokai, the Buckeyeman.” He then handed me his Buckeyeman business card. I told him that OSU-Lima is planning a trip down to the spring football game, and he told me to drop him a line when we come down.

After I was done judging and sent Ridgemont FCCLA’s parli pro team to state, I went to Colony Square Apartments in Columbus. I checked out the apartments again, and then paid part of my security deposit. After handing Craig my $100 deposit, he handed me the pool key. He told me to stop by anytime this summer to use the pool even though I won’t be moving in until September.

Wow! My life is just full of craziness! Hehe.

Last Wednesday, a friend and I got all dressed up and went to the Victoria Theatre in Dayton, OH to watch the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie." It was a great evening. I returned home after midnight, and thought to myself "Hmm...maybe I shouldn't have gone out tonight." I unfortunately still had to study for my classical mythology and theatre final exams! I got about 4 hours of sleep and then headed up to college for my 10:20AM Theatre exam. I was pretty much a walking zombie on campus. I had to go buy a cappuccino to help wake me up, and I ended up spilling some of it on me in class. Oops! After my theatre exam, I started studying for mythology. I only studied mythology for about an hour and then I went and took that exam too. And then I went home and went to bed. Haha.

My weekend was pretty good too. I went to a party and the guys decided to crowd surf me! Haha. It was pretty scary. I felt like a ball getting tossed around the room! I also had a good time at Wendy's in New Bremen on Sunday night too. I do believe that we walked through the drive-thru to order our food. Haha. It's a good thing that we knew the people working inside though.

(the picture is from one of the parties I attended over the weekend)

Profile Picture!

Cheryl and I (Cody) finally got around to getting a picture together! We were sitting in the computer lab in Galvin Hall today looking at pictures of her in a clown suit when we decided that we should quit putting off getting an "official" picture for this site. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Later on,
Cody

Notes from Cody (03/05/06)

So another week of class has come and gone putting us into the 10th and final week of Winter quarter. It’s amazing how time flies, this whole quarter has been a blur for me. It seems like classes just started but finals start in one week!

This quarter I will have 2 comprehensive exams and one concert. The tests are in Math and Literature and the concert is for University Chorus. Luckily my fourth class this quarter, Theatre 100, does not have a final which is amazing because that will be one less thing to prepare for.

I’m not too worried about finals though, I know they won’t be easy but I also know that I paid attention in class and took decent notes. Plus, I’ve already started to study so that will help a lot. Getting an early start might not be the coolest thing to do but I had some free time today and instead of wasting my time watching television I busted out my English notes.

I’m aiming for the Dean’s list again so I’m hoping my extra work will pay off!

Now I’ll move on to the important thing...SPRING BREAK! I’m extremely ready to finish this quarter/season so I can have a break! I’m ready for some time off and I’m even more ready for shorts and flip-flops instead of jeans and sweatshirts!

My inaugural Spring Break will consist of a week of random nothingness and a trip to Europe. I’ll be spending two weeks in Vicenza, Italy which is about 3 hours north of Rome. I’m hoping to trek through Italy and experience the different culture. I’m really looking forward to it! I’m sure I’ll have plenty of pictures and stories when I come back!

Because of my trip I will have an extra long Spring Break that starts Wednesday, March 15th and goes until mid April. My break will stretch into the 2nd or 3rd week of class because of my trip. What that means is that I’ll have to do 2 or 3 weeks of classes on my own in Italy. I’m hoping that my little excursion will be well worth the catch-up effort. I hope I can pull it off so I can do well in class and not let the professors down that so generously agreed to work with me!

Anyways, I must be going! Thanks for stopping by!
