Notes from Cheryl (2/15/2006)

I really enjoy taking HDFS 360, which is a good thing since I have an education major.

From talking to my professor and learning the materials in class, I'm actually pretty excited about getting farther and farther into my major. When I first started college, I thought that the only thing I could do with my FCS education major was become a teacher. However, I've learned that I can take my major into all sorts of directions!

My HDFS class will also count towards my job. As a daycare teacher, I have to have a certain amount of child development hours per year. I absolutely love working at the daycare center in Anna, OH. There is never a dull moment! Those kids are always saying the darnest things. For example: In the toddler room, Boy #1 take Girl's toy. Girl starts crying. Boy #2 approaches Boy #1, yells at him, takes the toy, and gives it back to Girl. Boy #2 hugs Girl and walks off with her. The toddler teachers begin to tease Boy #2 and ask him "Aww...who's your girlfriend?" His reply....."MISS CHERYL!" Gotta Love 'Em! ;)

sounds like you really love kids and that you found the right major for yourself.......now I just need to figure out what I really love to do.

You don't need to figure out EXACTLY what you want to do when you graduate from high school. High school only has a limited amount of courses available to you. In college, you can take tons of classes that aren't taught in your high school. You might take a course, find out that you really enjoy the subject, and then decide that you want to major in that particular area. So take your time! It's ok to be "undecided."
