Notes from Cheryl (2/2/2006)

I took my first midterms in all my classes. HDFS 360 had multiple choice, true/false, and an essay question. Theatre 100 had matching, multiple choice, short answers, and an essay. Classics 222 was five short essays. I thought HDFS 360 would be based on common sense and from my handouts, but I was wrong. There was a lot of questions from inside the text book. The essay was also devastating. I had to name all eight of the family theories and give the definitions for them all and point out the theory's weaknesses and strengths. I was then given a situation and I had to explain how all eight of the family theories applied to it. Sounds hard, eh? That's what I thought! I was expecting something like "What is your definition of a family?" or something similar to that. Theatre 100 was a pretty good exam, but Classics 222 was not so good. My professor gave us a one hour time limit to write up five essays. Needless to say, I wrote so fast my hand hurt and I was still finishing up writing when he said "Ok...time's up." I hate being rushed!

We now have a Lima Campus newspaper! The very first edition came out earlier this week. The paper is called the University Independent and the articles are written by the students. The January 2006 paper covered topics like smoking, rennovations to Reed Hall, Facebook, how to make your own beer, and the theatre department's upcoming played called "Slyvia."

Well, this weekend I am going sking at Mad River Mountain. It's College Day on Saturday.! If you bring your College I.D. with you (my Buck I.D. card), you will get 50% off your ski lift. I'm so excited. I'm still rallying up a big group of friends to head on over to the slopes. We might even spend the night at a cottage around Indian Lake instead of making the long trip back home. I can't wait!
