WoW! The weekend went by soooo fast, yet it was soooo fun! I left Friday morning from the Lima campus and took a 10-hr van ride to Gettysburg. Matt and I had a contest to see who could stay up the longest. I won! Once we arrived at the hotel, we decided to go explore the town, so a couple of us students took off down the street. I was busy talking to the people behind me, so I didn’t see the "no parking" sign and WHAM! My head hit the pole and I fell. Yep…I definitely did a good job representing Ohio State Lima! Haha. After dinner, a few of us hung out at the indoor pool and hot tub. Later, Ann and I went for a walk around the hotel and ending up getting caught in the middle of an ice cube war amongst the little soccer boys staying at our hotel!
On Saturday morning, we headed to the museum around 10:00AM. We watched the electric map presentation at 10:30AM and then started our battlefield tour at 11:00AM. Our guide was very thorough and the tour ended up lasting 3 hours! At 2:00PM, we grabbed lunch and then met back at the hotel at 3:00PM. We then went back to the battlefield to visit Devil’s Den and Little Round Top. I was being a little dare-devilish at Devil’s Den by attempting to climb down a steep rock. Mr. Nimps got a little worried, but I made it all the way down without getting dirty or injured. Ha! After spending time at Devil’s Den, we went up to Little Round Top. Instead of driving up there, Ann, Amy, Cody, Jen, and I hiked through the woods to get there. At 5:30PM, a few of us went to St. Xavier’s Catholic mass. After church we picked up some old fashioned ice cream on our way back to the hotel. While the faculty went to Dobbins to celebrate Dr. Gilmore’s birthday, we students went out to eat and then played cards out by the pool with our cases of Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper. The people over 21 sat on the balcony and laughed at us, but we didn’t care. We had a grand ol’ time!. We did some pretty crazy things though. For example, Matt jumped into the pool, clothes and all. Haha.
Sunday morning we packed up and left Getttyburg at 9:00AM and headed back to Ohio. We made a pit stop in Maryland to see the Sideling Hills, which was quite interesting. For the remainder of the ride home, everyone in my van was either sleeping or reading books while Mr. Nimps and I listened to the Reds vs the Pirates baseball game on the radio.
Throughout Honors History 152, I usually just sit in class and take notes and I rarely ever talk. The most Mr. Nimps can get out of me is a few words. After our 10 hour bus ride to Gettysburg, Mr. Nimps asked his wife, Dr. Gilmore, if she has ever met me before because he claims that he has just met me today too. Haha. Mr. Nimps learned a lot about me over the course of the weekend, so his opinions about me have definitely changed.
Well, I have lots to do today. I need to study pyschology, wirte two essays, and make it to a couple graduation parties!
